The Supremes

The news the past few days has been almost non-stop talking about The Supremes. And why not?  Back in the 1960’s The Supremes were one hot girl group. That hair, those moves.

Supremes

The music, their songs, they had so many hits. Baby Love, You Keep Me Hanging On, You Can’t Hurry Love. After all those great hit songs, in the late 60’s the girls moved from Detroit, to Washington D.C. Went all legal,  and renamed the group The Supreme Court. They handed down some landmark decisions, that changed the nation for the better.

1968: In Jones v. Alfred H. Mayer Co., the Court held that the Civil Rights Act of 1866 bans racial discrimination in housing by private, as well as governmental, housing providers.

1971: In Swann v. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education, the Court ruled busing was an appropriate legal tool for addressing illegal segregation of the schools.

1971: In Griggs v. Duke Power Co., the Supreme Court ruled that Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act prohibits not only intentional job discrimination, but also employer practices that have a discriminatory effect on minorities and women. The Court held that tests and other employment practices that disproportionately screened out African American applicants for jobs at the Duke Power Company were prohibited when the tests were not shown to be job-related.

A few years ago bush II changed some members of the group and sadly they have become whiter, and more righter.

The Band Today

They haven't put out any hits.for years,  In fact there last cd titled Citizens United was a huge flop, and stands today as the greatest threat to our democracy ever!
The group new release scheduled to be in music stores around June of 2012 It's called The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The tracks that have been leaked out of the studio sound like this release is going to be worse than the last.

  1. Why are at least half of the justices incapable of looking at the camera?
