Renda Arrives

In what has to be one of the most amazing adventures to happen in the north, in a while  the Russian fuel tanker Renda escorted by Cutter Healy has arrived at the dock in Nome.

The next phase is to connect the ship via ½ mile of hose to the Nome fuel dock, then pump the 1.3 million gallons of diesel and gasoline. Once the fuel is unloaded the Cutter Healy will break up the ice that now holds the Renda in place, and if the plan works both ships will sail into the sunset, for ice free waters.

The dogs of Nome are happy even if its months before the Iditarod comes to town.
