Jefferson on Tax Deadline Day

Thomas Jefferson is my favorite founding father for a lot of reasons.  He was the author of the Declaration  of Independence, He sent the core of discovery on its mission to explore the continent.  Today in the newspaper was a quote by him. Its  contemporary incite is startling.

"Man once surrendering his reason, has no remaining guard against absurdities the most monstrous, and like a ship without rudder, is the sport of every wind. With such persons, gullibility, which they call faith, takes the helm from the hand of reason, and the mind becomes a wreck."

He could have written that for today's T Baggers. Or for the Christians that believe this week a human raised up from the dead, and floated up into the sky.

Science and Reason. Jefferson knew that was where it was at way,  back when he was the president 1801–1809
