It has not really taken all that long, just a few weeks really but by ignoring the science of wearing a mask, social distancing, and getting a vaccination to prevent covid, Alaska has become the number one spot for covid in all of amerika.
We have bested Mississippi, Alabama, and even
Arkansas. We are number 1
For the first phase of covid we of course had our
regressive republican governor who took no action, and sided with the other right-wing
nuts proclaiming “What Me Worry”
In Anchorage we had a mayor who took the threat seriously
and ordered mask mandates, and shutdowns. This policy was pretty effective in
keeping our number low, but of course he faced lots of blow back from right wing
nuts, who had no concern for the public health.
Most of them never complied with mask mandates
probably until Costco made it mandatory to wear a mask to enter their store and
faced with not being able to purchase pork rinds in bulk the wing nuts
complied.
This go around our left leaning mayor has been
replaced by a right-wing lunatic who refuses to follow the science and has
refused to take any action to mitigate covid cases.
With 1700 new covid cases statewide today, and with
500 of those being in Anchorage our hospitals are overflowing and our
healthcare professionals are struggling to keep up.
At least the undertakers should be happy with 41
deaths from covid today.
We are witness the regressive republican health care
plan in action. If you get sick or need care, just die.
A pathetic state of affairs. Elections have consequences
and our last mayor’s race certainly is responsible for our out-of-control
covid.
