Who knew that when my traveling compadre and I
stepped off the Grand Princess last March that the ship would sail off to Hawaii
and become a covid death ship, sailing back and forth along the California
Coast hoping for any port.
Grand Princess Docked In Oakland
Image Stolen from the mercury news
The Grand ended up quarantined at the industrial port of Oakland
with the surviving passengers and crew captive on board, for several weeks. Not
a grand way to extend your cruise.
I made it home okay
and outside of a koffee grinder that I had to threaten with a knife in order to
get it to grind, the lock down for me, at least was not all that bad.
I could step out on the deck and listen to the howls of coyotes
instead of the din of traffic.

The Steller Jays
still wanted almonds, and Costco made masks mandatory, and even opened early for
seniors. Maybe best of all there were no school zones to slow you down on the way to get the
almonds.
But best of all no one in our household got sick, even when
there were a thousand new cases a day. Believing in science is good.
But now my phone needs to pair with OHMS again, so here I am back in
2D flying south.
Air travel is perfectly safe
again Alaska Air says, especially since they have installed medical grade HEPA
air filters, and masks are mandatory. I think the middle seat might still be vacant
for the premium seats but the curtain has been closed, so I may never know.
And if you had any doubts about
how covid safe this plane is Alaska has installed mood lighting in the forward lavatory.
Opps wrong. the bulb is burning
out and only flickers, and the fright attendant says the raft is missing from
the overhead. But I am sure those
filters are working.
The fellow in the window seat is
wearing a camouflage jacket. I am debating telling him that if his final destination
is Barbados, then he should change, because they won’t let him in.
Ahh maybe I will just take a nap instead
and rest up for the inevitable N-C Gate shuffle…
