After a few days enjoying good company, and the bars and restaurants
of Spokane, it was time to go for another ride.
Cosmo
Since I am not ready to go home yet, I had to give some
thought to, just where I wanted to go. I could just ride home from here. But “OHMS” really likes staying in “The Bay
Area”, and what would I do with two snowbound motorbikes in the north? Wait I
could couple them together stud the tires and ride both bikes at once in the
winter.
OHMS Parked
The voice from OHMS sez the electronics are not compatible,
with the other bike. Studded tires are unacceptable,
and one rock chip is enough.
FINE then, with a full gas tank of mainly low octane fuel I
pointed the LSD lights west on I 90, and after a while I made an exit onto 395
No Need For Gun Laws In Amerika
Highway 395 Avenue de Sierra. Apparently is my favorite
road, and this section south bound through eastern Washington is almost as
deserted as other sections of 395. That changes going through Pasco and
Kennewick, where I cross the mighty Columbia river, and pick up highway 14,
that moseys along the north shore of the river.
It becomes rapidly apparent that this section of 14 is not
very scenic, unless you like fields of corn, wheat and Washington scablands.
There is also no place to pull over and take a look, if you wanted to take a
look. I soon discover though that, there
is one huge advantage to riding on this side of the river, and that is you can
look across to Oregon and highway I 84 and see lots of truck and car traffic.
Flipping through the radio Oregon Public Broadcast comes in
loud and clear. Hoping to here Fresh Air I suffer through the news. Yes indeed
what in the world will become of us without the latest Nazi to leave the pensetrump
administration. But it is hard to believe that they will find someone worse to
replace him with.
Ah but then the turnoff to Stonehenge comes into view.
Finally something to see. And of course I miss the turn. Oh well I saw another
fake one in Texas and have visited the real one in Salisbury. Besides I can see
this one from the road
Stonehenge At Salisbury Great Britain
Across the bridge to Oregon and down the road to the Dalles.
Its time for some lunch and to wander around this little town.
I stumbled across River Tap and settle in for some lunch. I
really didn’t want a burger, but settled for their Gangster Burger, that
probably was one of the best burgers I have ever had.
Well now besides burgers what the Dalles is famous for is electricity.
Wind power came to late to save the once wild and prolific
salmon stream, that the Columbia was. Just looking at this makes an even
stronger statement against pebble mine, and the destruction of the head waters
of the last wild sustainable salmon run in the world, Bristol Bay.
The Dalles Dam
Well I think I will spend the night, and who knew you could
rent a cat.
Probably Out Of My Price Range
