Long Beach

Never having been there I thought I would check it out and discovered that Long Beach in Washington is a very long sandy beach, and totally unlike Long Beach In California that is an industrial port.

In Long Beach Washington one could drive their vehicle right up to or even right into the Pacific Ocean if that is what you wanted to do. I did not, but thoroughly enjoyed the nice boardwalk that parallels the paved multi use trail, that goes for a couple of miles, behind the main strip of town.

Part Of The Long Beach Boardwalk

I meet two rescued greyhounds and the humans that they own along the boardwalk. The first one of the hounds to stick its snout in my crotch, it's human told me that this dog is the shy one and usually doesn’t go near other people on the boardwalk. Well it sure liked me.

Greyhounds must like the smell of crotches that have sat on motorbikes in the rain, and Somehow without anyone knowing how, the shy one communicated to the friendly one that my crotch had indeed done just that.
Well it wasn’t long until the friendly one had his snout in there and then decided to jump around and howl. I did the only thing I could think of to do after being violated by two greyhounds, and that was to pet both of them, give a little howl myself, and tell their humans what sweet dogs they had.

The dogs meanwhile only wanted to run at full speed to the end of the boardwalk, and then keep running to the end of the peninsula or until their tongues were dragging on the ground causing sand to get into their eyes.

The dogs were serious about doing this and went about pulling the humans who were not that enthusiastic about going at greyhound speed and held onto their end of the leashes tightly so as to not have two dog bums disappearing into the fog as the final memory of their pets.

I continued to root for the dogs to break free, and run, as the dogs continued to pull their humans north, I thought about lunch and wondered why the sight hounds never pointed out to their humans the no dogs allowed on the boardwalk sign.

I selected the fish restaurant for lunch, and after being assured that the Salmon was indeed wild caught Alaskan Salmon, I ordered some The fillet arrived literally drowning in a large quantity of melted butter and garlic. I knew I would have to save this fish before eating it, and with another plate and several napkins I dried it off, preserving  the sauteed garlic. It wasn’t half bad.

Across the street from the restaurant was the local beach resort go-cart-track. It was quite amusing to watch mostly adults, that must have sat in a vehicle or drove one to get here go around and round the track, in the tiny gasoline powered vehicles.

After lunch I took in what passes for the town Piazza. What a difference a couple of oceans make. To its credit Long Beach has on display a very large frying pan.

The Very Large Frying Pan Of Long Beach Washington

This pan is very similar to the Largest Frying Pan I sought out and found one day with my traveling compadre in the town of Brandon Iowa,. Forever humble Long Beach makes no claim as to its pan's status.

In the morning my own gasoline powered vehicle “OHMS” was right where I left her properly parked in the Motorcycle Parking.

Must Obey

She was also soaking wet as the rain that had earlier woke me up pounding on the hotel window was continuing. This new rain gear may be worn out by the time I reach the next toll bridge.
