A while ago well actually a year ago I landed in New York after crossing the Atlantic by riding on the Queen Mary 2. On that trip it was off the ship, on to the bus to the airport, then the long fright back to the west coast.
But today after
crossing the country on the Air Bus it was boots on the ground in New York
City

Busy Sky’s
Since our hotel the magnificent Mansfield offered no shuttle,
we had to choose between finding a shuttle of some kind, wait for an Uber or
just take one of the taxi’s waiting just outside the door.
The taxi won out and with its fixed rate from the airport to
downtown, hotels was probably the best option. The driver was strong enough to lift our cases
into the trunk of his cab, and out again at the hotel.
Cabs At The
Ready
Our drivers driving skills in rush hour traffic were top of
the shop. He went from lane to lane, sometimes splitting lanes, and never hit
anyone or had anyone hit us, and once or twice when the traffic cleared, he was
able to speed up to the amazing speed of 45mpg.
At the Magnificent Mansfield upon arrival the bell man came
curbside to greet us, took our bags and after registration began nobly earning
his tip with more useful information than one can digest after riding on the
air bus all day. He did suggest a restaurant
“Soju” just down the street, that turned out to be a favorite for dinner and
breakfast. Even the espresso was good, but it lacked the giant sign of the Red
Flame Café, that made finding our street very easy.
Out Front Of The Magnificent Mansfield Hotel
The Mansfield located right downtown and made a good base
for walking to all the attractions like Central Park, Times square, the empire
state building, and Broadway, where we walked over to see a top- notch
performance of Chicago.
The subway was near by and we used it to visit some acquaintances
way out in queens, and again to ride out to bowling green to tour the liberty statue
and Ellis Island.
All in all it was a good visit to the Big Apple, but I wouldn’t
want to live there.
