I always travel with a coffee press, and Kaladi Brothers
coffee, this trip is no exception. The press is a jet boil, but I didn’t bring
the burner or gas to run it as you can’t fly or get on a ship with the fuel
tanks. In Florida the only way to heat water in the room was one cup at a time
with the tiny in room coffee pot. It was primitive, but it worked.
The press and coffee were stowed all the way to Roma but
came right out that first morning as our room had a Hot Pot.
Along The Way To The Sea
The only place where I did not brew fresh koffee in the morning was at the Nomad, as the room was spartan modern and had no hot pot.
On board the elegant Queen Mary, a hot pot is right in our room. Quite a welcome surprise. Fresh brewed koffee every morning since my traveling compadre and myself have boarded is the order of the day.
Will we run out of koffee before amerika? This is a puzzling
question as the bag of koffee seems to be a bit like the Mcabrees magic temple
lamp. The lamp only had enough oil for one night, but it burned for eight hence
the Hanukah minora. If I do not run out tomorrow morning, then
High Level Superstition
Boarding the Queen was quite orderly. You had a number and
waited for your number to be called. Announcements were made over a PA system
and a lady walked around the room holding up large cards with your number on it.
Once on board you discover
that the amenities on this ship make the princess ships seem like tug boats. This ship has a Planetarium. Yes, an actual Planetarium. The screen descends from the ceiling, and 4 state of the art projectors play films of the stars.
Up on deck 12 where the drivers are, one can go up to the bridge observation lounge and see the actual patched out personal pointing the ship in the right direction, and in this case is New York
Prop Art
This crossing will end in New York, in a former great
country, that is rapidly descending to third would status, and really isn’t
even a country any more just an oil company with a huge military, where the
citizens all have guns, and would love to use them on each other.
And the koffee made it all the way to our last morning at
sea
